The works in this series were inspired, in part, by a larger work on paper (Joy Without Strings | 18 IN x 22 IN). The palette in this series and the motifs within each work speak to the simplicity and essence of expressionism and how small shifts in a composition can change how it is perceived.

My love for Sudoku started when I was really little and my love for it deepened when I found out that my pops is also a huge fan.
I would usually get my sudoku puzzle books from the dollar store and I remember telling my pops about this because he then started saving the sudoku puzzles from the newspaper to give to me.
These pages are a timeless comfort and I still enjoy them because they make me slow down, think critically, and problem solve in a time where everything seems to revolve around instant gratification. Sudoku for me is synonymous with the quiet and curious parts of myself and I’m grateful that I can always find time to sit down with a puzzle book and let my mind drift.
This series was also inspired by a recent study on early 20-the century German collage artist Kurt Schwitters. Schwitters was closely affiliated with the Dadaist and Constructivist art movements and his goal was to unify art and life by incorporating everyday objects into his work.
